We had a great start to the week at last night’s 2018 BIFA awards, as feature doc Evelyn won ‘Best Documentary’, overcoming strong competition in the category! Described as ‘superb’ and ‘incredible’ by BIFA, Evelyn follows Oscar-winning director Orlando von Einsiedel as he turns the camera on his own family after an unthinkable suicide threatens to tear them apart. Over a decade after the tragedy, Orlando unearths his family’s buried grief to reconcile and reflect on the life and death of his younger brother, Evelyn.

Congratulations to Claire Ellis (Dialogue Editor), Chad Orororo (Junior Dubbing Mixer), George Foulgham (Head of Documentary Feature Sound), Andrew Daniel (Senior Colourist), Beren Croll (Online Editor) and Nas Parkash (Re-Recording Mixer) for their work on Evelyn

We all feel very proud to have worked on a film that is rightly getting praised at these prestigious award ceremonies, but also one that we hope will support an audience of people who have experienced such a tragic loss.

Alongside Evelyn, a 'congratulations' is also due for Dead in a Week (Or Your Money Back), which was nominated in the ‘Best Effects’ category last night. With an impressive cast including Tom Wilkinson (Michael Clayton, The Full Monty) and Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who, Shallow Grave), Dead in a Week takes a comic look at our sense of purpose in life.
